X4 Pro FAQ: Formats, Storage, Charging, Front Light, and Support
Share
X4 Pro is a pocket-sized E Ink reader built around three practical upgrades: an adjustable front light, touchscreen navigation, and a larger 1100mAh battery.
Before buying, the more important questions are about fit. Will it open your books? Can you expand the storage? How do you transfer files and charge it? Is the 4.3-inch screen suitable for the way you read?
This X4 Pro FAQ answers those questions using the current official product information.

Battery capacity is not the same as a guaranteed number of reading days. Runtime varies with front-light level, wireless use, file activity, and reading habits, so this guide does not make an hours-or-days promise.
Does X4 Pro have a front light?
Yes. X4 Pro has a built-in front light with adjustable brightness and warm/cool light.
This is the main upgrade for people who read in bed, on evening commutes, during flights, or in rooms where the ambient light is not reliable. You can change the light as the environment changes instead of depending on a separate reading lamp.
The front light can also be turned down when you do not need much illumination. The best setting is the lowest level that keeps the page clear for your current environment.
Is X4 Pro a touchscreen e-reader?
Yes. X4 Pro includes a touchscreen and dedicated physical buttons.
The touchscreen is useful for selecting books, opening menus, changing settings, and navigating directly. The physical buttons remain available for page turns. You can tap or swipe when you want flexibility, then use a fixed button when you are reading in sequence.
This hybrid control setup is useful for readers who like one-handed buttons but do not want button-only menu navigation.
Which eBook formats does X4 Pro support?
The detailed specification section on the current X4 Pro product page lists:
- Documents: EPUB and TXT
- Images: JPG and BMP
- Fonts: BIN and XTF
If your library depends on PDF, MOBI, PNG, a store-specific format, or DRM-protected books, confirm compatibility with XTEINK support before ordering. Do not assume that every file commonly described as an “eBook” will open directly.
Can I expand the storage?
Yes. X4 Pro comes with a 16GB microSD card and supports expansion up to 256GB.
That gives readers room to grow a compatible local library without being limited to fixed built-in storage. Actual book capacity depends on file size. Text-based EPUB and TXT files are usually much smaller than image-heavy books, photos, or comics, so one universal “number of books” would be misleading.
How do I import books?
X4 Pro supports two transfer paths: the XTEINK app and USB mode.
Import with the XTEINK app
- Bind X4 Pro to the XTEINK app.
- Connect the reader to Wi-Fi.
- Open the Devices tab in the app and select X4 Pro.
- Tap Import and choose the compatible book file on your phone.
- On X4 Pro, open the upper-right menu and select Cloud Sync.
Import from a computer
- Connect X4 Pro to your computer with a compatible USB connection.
- Open the upper-right menu on X4 Pro.
- Select USB Mode.
- When the device appears on the computer, copy the compatible book file to it.
If the file does not appear or open, first check the format instead of assuming the transfer failed.
How does X4 Pro charge?
The official specification lists a Pogo Pin port. The box includes a magnetic charging adapter.
The product FAQ also states that a charging cable is not included. Plan to use your own compatible cable and power source with the included adapter, and follow the X4 Pro Quick Start Guide for the correct connection.
Avoid promising USB-C charging unless the current guide or product page explicitly confirms it for X4 Pro.
How large and heavy is X4 Pro?
X4 Pro measures 111 × 69 × 5.95 mm and weighs 72g.
Its 4.3-inch display is substantially more compact than a typical six-inch reader. That makes it easier to keep in a pocket, small bag, or everyday-carry setup, but it also means less text is visible on each page.
Readers who value portability may see that as the main advantage. Readers who prefer large type, wide margins, full-page PDFs, or detailed comics may be happier with a larger screen.
Is X4 Pro good for commuting?
It can be a strong commuting reader when your books are compatible and you prefer a small display.
The 72g body is easy to carry, the physical buttons support direct page turns, the touchscreen makes settings accessible, and the front light helps when the train or bus becomes dim. Built-in magnets can also support compatible phone or EDC arrangements.
The main tradeoff is screen size. A 4.3-inch display is best suited to reflowable, text-focused reading. Fixed-layout files and detailed pages may require more movement or may simply be better on a larger device.
What is the battery life?
X4 Pro has an 1100mAh battery.
XTEINK's current detailed specifications do not provide a test condition that supports a reliable “days per charge” promise in this article. Front-light brightness, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, file syncing, and reading time all affect runtime.
For a useful comparison, look for battery claims that disclose the light level, wireless settings, and daily reading duration.
Does X4 Pro have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth?
The current specification lists Wi-Fi 2.4GHz and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.
Wi-Fi supports app binding and Cloud Sync. Bluetooth is listed as a device specification, but this article does not infer audiobook, headphone, keyboard, or other accessory compatibility from the radio alone. Confirm the exact Bluetooth use you need before purchase.
What can the XTEINK app do?
The XTEINK app is positioned as a companion for:
- Importing compatible books and files.
- Transferring content to the device.
- Managing custom wallpapers.
- Supporting reading-habit and additional app features.
The X4 Pro product page also refers to XT-Cloud and Vision features. App and firmware functions can change, so check the current iOS or Android app listing if one particular feature is essential to your purchase.
What does “unlocked firmware” mean?
XTEINK currently states that units purchased directly from the official XTEINK website are exempt from third-party firmware restrictions.
That statement should not be interpreted as a promise that X4 Pro runs Android, includes Google Play, or supports every third-party reading app, store, DRM system, or cloud service. Confirm the exact workflow you need.
Can I install custom fonts?
The current X4 Pro FAQ lists XTF and BIN font formats.
Fonts can be imported through the XTEINK app or USB mode and then selected inside a book. The product page says TTF support is planned for a future firmware update, so TTF should not be treated as a current guaranteed feature until the update is actually available.
Which firmware languages are currently listed?
The current detailed specification lists:
- English
- Japanese
- Simplified Chinese
- Traditional Chinese
The page says additional languages may arrive through future firmware updates. A future-language statement is not the same as current availability, so confirm your required language before ordering.
What comes in the box?
The current X4 Pro product page lists:
- 1 × X4 Pro e-reader
- 1 × Quick Start Guide
- 1 × microSD card
- 1 × matte screen protector
- 2 × e-reader adhesive metal rings
- 1 × magnetic charging adapter
A charging cable is not listed as included.
Where can I get help?
Use the official X4 Pro User Guide for setup and operating steps. For product, order, shipping, return, or warranty questions, use the official XTEINK Contact page.
For a faster support answer, include the product name, the store where you purchased it, and your order number when relevant.
Is X4 Pro right for me?
Choose X4 Pro if you want a pocket-sized reader for compatible local files, need a front light for day-to-night reading, and prefer having both touch and physical buttons.
Choose another device if you need a larger display, a particular bookstore or library ecosystem, confirmed PDF/MOBI/DRM support, stylus notes, audiobooks, waterproofing, or another feature not currently guaranteed.
